June Lake Trail Map · Lakes
Grant Lake
The big reservoir at the north end. Swims in summer, big browns in spring and fall.
Map by Bill Tipton, made for the Yosemite Gateway Chalet. For planning: carry a real map and check conditions before you go.
The biggest lake on the Loop, open and windswept, with granite ledges, cold clear water and the best shot at a big brown in spring and fall. Fish it early. By mid-morning the wind and the water-skiers own it. The wind drops in the evening, and the sky over the Mono Basin catches fire.
