The front door to the Ansel Adams Wilderness: Agnew Lake, Gem Lake and, for backpackers, Waugh Lake, Thousand Island Lake and the John Muir Trail. Morning shade, big granite, and the sound of Rush Creek the whole way up. The old Agnew tram tracks still service the dams. They look like a shortcut. They are not. Stay on the trail.
