Five minutes up the road from the chalet. Silver Lake drops off fast, the inlet where Rush Creek comes in holds fish all season, and the light at sunrise is reason enough to be there. The Rush Creek trailhead and the pack station are at its south end, and Silver Lake Resort is on the north shore.
