The high basins around Thousand Island Lake, below Banner and Ritter peaks, are the deep end of the Ansel Adams Wilderness. From the Silver Lake trailhead it is a backpacking trip, and some of the basins above 10,000 feet hold golden trout for those who walk far enough.
