Fern Lake Trailhead
A walk from the back door. The trail to Fern Lake and Yost Lake starts here.
Map by Bill Tipton, made for the Yosemite Gateway Chalet. For planning: carry a real map and check conditions before you go.
Leave the car at the house. From the back door it is about a mile down-canyon to the Fern Lake trailhead by the Double Eagle Resort, where the trail starts climbing and does not let up. About a mile in, a branch splits toward Yost Meadow and Yost Lake. In winter, rent snowshoes at Ernie's and walk the same way.
